History

In 1961, the International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame was founded by the Professional Marathon Swimmers Association to recognize marathon swimmers across the world. A year later, the International Swimming Hall of Fame and International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame approved the International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame becoming an affiliated unit of the International Swimming Hall of Fame.

Procedures

  1. The application is completely filled out by the swimmer and submitted to the International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame.
  2. The application is reviewed by an International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame representative. If there are any questions or need for clarification or additional information, an email is sent to the swimmer.
  3. After the application is reviewed and accepted, the swimmer will be sent a draft copy of a Record of Swim Certificate to verify spelling and other facts concerning the swim.
  4. Upon approval by the swimmer, the Final Certificate is printed on International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame letterhead, placed in an International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame Certificate folder and mailed to the swimmer per the swimmer’s instructions.
  5. The completed Application Form (and other verifying information) is attached to a copy of the Final Certificate and placed in the Recording a Swim file at the International Swimming Hall of Fame archives in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, U.S.A.
