Honorees set various Triple Crown records: 

First: Alison Streeter, MBE in 1987 - quickly followed by Taranath Narayan Shenoy (first male)

Fastest:  Alison Streeter, MBE in 1987-2005, then Marcia Cleveland 2005-2024 (overall) still fastest female 2004 (still holds 2024 and beyond), then Petar Stoychev 2024 (still holds)

Antonio Argüelles Díaz-González was the first to complete the Triple Crown twice and followed by Penny Palfrey.

Elizabeth Fry was the first and only to complete the Triple Crown in both directions.

Courtney Moates Paulk was the first to complete a the Triple Crown 3 then 4 times. She was the first to complete the 2-way Triple Crown followed by Stève Stievenart.

 

The first known reference to "the Triple Crown of Open Water Swimming" was an interview with Honoree Ashby "Brud" Harper in 1988 when he announced his plan to swim Catalina to complete the challenge.  In the mid 1990s the organizers of the Manhattan swim used the term as part of their marketing efforts.   Other Triple Crowns are gaining popularity including: Australian, Californian, Irish and Original (also call UK 3 Channel Challenge).

Honorees who helped greatly with the creation of the organization, administration, or reporting:  Steven Muñatones, Evan Morrison, and Julian Critchlow.
